Stabilizing CLL – One Man’s Miracle
CLL is a type of cancer that affects the white blood cells (called lymphocytes) within bone marrow. In Chronic leukemia white blood cells may look fairly normal, but the disease affects their development so they are not. They do not fight infection as well as normal white blood cells and they survive longer, building up and crowding out normal cells.
From there the leukemia invades the blood and, with time, can also take over other parts of the body, including lymph nodes, the liver and the spleen.
Then, in August of 2009 his wife urged him to try something new.
With her encouragement he added prayer and a daily regimen of AHCC to his routine. The surprising result?
It appears to have stabilized his CLL.
What Is AHCC And What Role Might It Play In Stabilizing CLL?
Both animal and human clinical studies have demonstrated the supplement’s ability to enhance the immune system’s response.
In multiple clinical studies it has prolonged survival time in cancer patients while also reducing the side effects of chemotherapy.
That’s because AHCC has been shown to increase the number and activity of specific types of white blood cells (natural killer cells—also known as “NK cells,” macrophages, dendritic cells and T cells), which destroy viruses, bacteria or abnormal cells.
It is widely used as a complementary immune-therapy and is prescribed by over 700 hospitals and medical clinics throughout Asia as part of an immune enhancement maintenance regimen.
Further, it has begun to gain broad support in the U.S. where it has been studied extensively by researchers at the Harvard Medical School and the affiliated Faulkner Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine, Drexel University Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology, and SUNY Binghamton’s Department of Biological Sciences, among many others.
As a result, it is now available in most health food stores.
Overcoming Doubt: Results Speak Louder Than Words
Natural remedies were new to him and he researched everywhere to be certain that side effects were minimal or nonexistent before he agreed to take the alternative treatment.
The outcome thus far has been miraculous and neither Stevens nor his brother, who has the same condition and is also taking the mushroom extract with positive effects, have experienced any unpleasant side effects.
As a doctor he knows how hard it can be to prove cause and effect in medicine.
So, a little over a year ago he thought about removing the AHCC from his routine to see if his leukemia resumed its progression. However his wife didn’t want him to press his luck—so ultimately he continued taking his two capsules a day.
While still unsure how exactly AHCC may help in stabilizing CLL, Dr. Stevens is thankful that God led him to the supplement.
Today he views his medical status as the coming together of science and faith.
He continues to believe in traditional medicine and takes medical mission teams to Third World countries every year. But while there he also takes the time to pray.
