Superbugs: What You Need To Know
This threat is one that is impacting all of us – regardless of where we live and how healthy we are. Due to antibiotic resistance, it has become an increased challenge to ward off infectious disease which has undermined and weakened many of our global health care advances.
When antibiotics were first introduced and used to treat infection and disease, it was very rare for resistant pathogens to exist. These resistant pathogens are responsible for reducing the impact and efficacy of antibiotics. According to the World Health Organization:
Antimicrobial use permitted resistant organisms to thrive within treated patients, but it is the movement of resistant microbes between individuals, communities, and nations that has led to a world where all are at risk of an untreatable infection.
The World Health Organization estimates that this new health threat will result in at minimum 2 million serious illnesses and infections as well as 23,000 deaths a year. As a result the White House has responded with a 5-year, $1.2 billion program with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that is focused on eliminating and fighting superbugs and drug-resistant bacteria.
How Did Antibiotic Resistance Happen?
Take Steps to Naturally Strengthen Your Immune System
- Take AHCC: as nearly 25 human clinical studies have shown, AHCC is proven to turn up the dial on your natural immune system response, making your body better prepared to fight off superbugs and reduce the impact of antibiotic resistance. In fact, in a recent study where mice were given a lethal dose of the superbug Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), those mice that were also given AHCC survived significantly longer than the placebo group. This shows that taking AHCC will strengthen your immune system naturally, allowing it to be ready to act when it comes in contact with a virus or bacteria.
- Consume good bacteria: you’ve heard about the health benefits of foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, and fermented cheese – well, now is the time to add these foods to your daily diet. Because fermented foods contain probiotics (good bacteria), consuming such foods is a simple way for you to increase your ability to ward off superbugs. This good bacteria works to help wipe out bad bacteria that can linger in your digestive system and hamper your ability to fight infection.
- Eat a pomegranate: eating pomegranates and drinking pomegranate juice are not only sweet treats but contain high levels of antioxidants. These antioxidants are key in strengthening your ability to fight off superbugs and defeat antibiotic resistance. Enjoy a glass of pomegranate juice with your breakfast or add some pomegranate crunch to your cereal.
Above all else, health has to be your number one priority. The more you can do naturally to ward off infection, eliminate the strength of superbugs, and strengthen your immune system – the better off you will be. When thinking about your options, remember that natural is always your best first choice. Simply supplementing with AHCC,
adding some yogurt to your smoothie, and drinking a glass of pomegranate juice are small and simple steps that go a long way.
